I must say, for my own personal dedicated server, I would pick Gentoo Linux over anything for its performance and sheer power. But in a hosted solutions business its just not practical, so....I gotta go with BSD I guess but I'm also impressed with CentOS.

I am still in love with FreeBSD. It got 24Shells started with first server, but getting pratical if you can pay for license I will get red hat enterprise, and for free one Centos.

I had a little experience with RHE a couple of years ago on a couple of servers that ran high load all the time and I was not overly impressed with its use of resources and inability to adequetly deal with the unforseen which is oftern the case in the custom software world (not everyones cup of tea granted). Maybe it has come a long way since then but I still wouldnt personally pick it over bsd or CentOS but if its geared towards the provision of common hosting services then im all for it. I know windows took the term 'standardisation' and turned it into a repulsive monopoly of instrusive and unreliable software but seeing some sort of more rudimentry standardisation other then the kernels in Linux operating systems would be nice. Having a few ways to achieve a single goal is nice because everyone likes a little variety but, having millions is just annoying and confusing to me. Maybe im getting old and grumpy
